I was tagged by Romie to do this tag, and since I did my Mid-Year goal breakdown yesterday I thought it’d be good to follow that one up with this post. I’ve wanted to do this tag for ages but haven’t done it yet so this is perfect! Lets jump into the questions.
BEST BOOK YOU’VE READ THIS YEAR:
Honestly this question is really hard and I could have included so many books here. But I think it ultimately has to go to I Was Born For This by Alice Oseman. I loved this book soo much. Alice Oseman always writes the best, most relatable books and I devoured this one. Everything about it made me happy and I still think about it all the time which is a big sign I loved a book.
BEST SEQUEL SO FAR:
This book would have also fit for the above question, but I decided to put it in here instead so I didn’t double up. I chose Before the Devil Breaks You by Libba Bray. I adore this series and this was my favourite of the three that are out so far. Everything about it is literally perfect, I’m obsessed with the characters, they’re amazing. I also think the plot is so well constructed and cleverly plotted out, and there’s so many twists and turns I never see coming. Plus the 1920’s setting is so fun. I cannot wait for the Diviners 4 to come out.
NEW RELEASE YOU HAVEN’T READ YET, BUT WANT TO:
Oh this one is finally an easy choice. Definitely Circe by Madeline Miller. I love Madeline Miller’s works and have heard so many good things about Circe. I own it so I really want to read it soon.
MOST ANTICIPATED RELEASE FOR THE SECOND HALF OF THE YEAR
Okay, it’s got to be Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare. I’m so so so excited, I can’t wait. Cassandra Clare’s series endings always RUIN ME and I’ve been waiting so long and have so many expectations I can’t wait.
BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT
I think for me this is Leah on the Offbeat by Becky Albertalli. I still enjoyed aspects of this book, but so much of it didn’t live up to my expectations. I felt so disappointed when I finished it and I really just wanted it to be more? It was one of the biggest releases of the year for me and it really let me down.
BIGGEST SURPRISE
This one has to be And I Darken by Kiersten White. I didn’t really think I’d like this series and it wasn’t even on my TBR for ages. I was convinced to read it after seeing Elise praise it so much and okay, I ended up loving this series. I was super engrossed by the historical period and the characters and I was totally surprised by how much I loved it.
NEW FAVOURITE AUTHOR (EITHER DEBUT OR NEW TO YOU)
Okay, so I think for this I’m gonna go with N.K Jemisin for this one. I adored The Fifth Series so much and can’t wait to finish the series. Even though I could have counted say, Libba Bray, in this. Since her series is my new favourite and new to me, but I realised I kind of don’t want to read her other works because the concepts don’t interest me. But I really want to read everything N.K Jemisin writes. I just really love her style and think I’m going to love all her works.
NEW FICTIONAL CRUSH
Oh man, I don’t know really? The first character that comes to mind is Memphis from The Diviners, because he’s so sweet and he would TREAT YOU RIGHT. (and also his sex scene in BTDBY had me shook) But Levi from Ace of Shades also comes to mind because he’s just so funny and slick. I also love Evie from the Diviners too, and she’s so fucking fun I’d love to hang out with her so much.
NEWEST FAVOURITE CHARACTER
PLEASE DON’T. It’s too hard. I’m literally just making a list I don’t care. We’ve got essentially all the Diviners crew, especially Evie, Memphis, Sam, Theta and Henry. I also adored Zelie from Children of Blood and Bone. Radu from And I Darken is a pure bean and I love him. Jimmy Kaga-Ricci from I Was Born For This, as well as Angel and Lister, are amazing and I would die for them. There are so many more, I love so many characters way too much.
BOOK THAT MADE YOU HAPPY
I think for this definitely Peter Darling by Austin Chant. This was such a cute, fluffy and sweet romance and it just made me so happy throughout. I was left smiling and laughing and I thought about this book for ages after I finished it. It put me through a lot of emotions but it made me SO HAPPY because it’s just too sweet.
FAVOURITE ADAPTATION
It’s gotta be Love, Simon. I mean, come on its LOVE SIMON. This movie was sooo good, I saw it three times in cinemas. It totally lived up to my expectations and was just so wholesome and gave me every emotion. I laughed and cried and even though it changed some parts of the book, it still had the vibe of the book I needed. I just loved it so much.
FAVOURITE REVIEW YOU’VE WRITTEN
I don’t really know? I quite liked my Ace of Shades one as well as my review for The Cruel Prince but I think my ultimate favourite is my I Was Born For This review. I just really liked the structure and what I said, as well as including a gush section because I really wanted to talk more about the book. I’m also proud of this review because I had it scheduled a long time before it posted.
BOOKS TO READ BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR
I have an entire goodreads shelf dedicated to this topic and there’s lots of upcoming releases I want to read before the end of the year so I won’t include them. Some of my biggest backlist titles I really want to get to are Dear Martin by Nic Stone, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid, Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor, The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken, Cloaked in Shadow by Ben Alderson and the rest of the Inheritance Trilogy by N.K Jemisin.
That is it for the tag today! Let me know what you would have answered to these questions. I’m tagging Elise, Natasha, Ellyn, Fadwa and Lacy but if you would like to do this, feel free and consider yourself tagged from me.
until next time!
Ohhh I hope you love Circe, when you get around to reading it! And I (sadly) felt the same way about Leah on the Offbeat.
I hope your second halt of 2018 is amazing! ❤️

Your love for The Diviners makes me so happy tbh. My favourite character is hands down Theta but I also really love all the other characters. The series is amazing and I need book 4 asap.
