IT’S AUGUST ALREADY … HOW THE HECK. I’m starting to feel allll the reading pressure. Like the months are running out to read all my 2018 books! I can’t believe how fast this year is going.
Lets talk the TBR. Last month was a Massive Flop in terms of the TBR. I barely read anything (though, in my defence, I was away for 10 days.) So I’m hoping I can complete more of my TBR this month. BookTubeAThon starts tomorrow and is always a good motivator to read more. I’m hoping after that I am in a big reading mood and not a slump. Anyway, I’m making a big TBR in hopes that I will be since I’m thirty books behind on my Goodreads challenge (fuck) so I really need to catch up.
Lets jump into the TBR!
These are the books I’ll be reading in the first week of the month for BookTubeAThon! If you’d like to see my full TBR post & the challenges just click on the above image!
I’ve decided I won’t be doing the structured TBR this month. Because it’s only a half month it doesn’t really make sense. Also, the BookTubeAThon TBR has quite a range of genres anyway and, finally, I really need to read some ARCs and I have some highly anticipated books I want to read this month. So I’ve decided I’ll make my own TBR this month and then do a structured one again in October.
To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han
This book has been on my TBR for sooo long and now that the movie is coming out it’s FINALLY TIME to sit down and read it. I genuinely am so excited for the movie, it looks so fun, so I bet I’ll love the book too.
A Reaper At the Gates by Sabaa Tahir
I am so excited to read this but I’m also kinda on the fence on if it’ll be this month. I’m debating if I want to read it physically or as an audio. If I listen to the audiobook Ill do that this month, otherwise I’m on hold for a library copy, which I’m hoping comes in this month.
Dear Martin by Nic Stone
This is on my “2018 TBR Shortlist” and so I think it’s time I got to it. It’s an ownvoices book by a black author about police violence and I’ve heard so many good things about it. Plus it’s short and I love a good short read.
Dread Nation by Justina Ireland
Another OwnVoices book by a black author, this is an alternate history book featuring zombies. I have an arc of this so I really need to read this one.
The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken
This is what I am currently reading so obviously it’s on my August TBR. I’m actually really liking it so far! I haven’t read a classic YA dystopian with super powered kids in ages but this definitely is one and it’s kinda nice to be back in this genre.
Like I said, I want to read a bunch of ARCs. It is ARCAugust so hopefully I can join in on that and get some ARCs read. I am not sure which ones I’m reading yet so here’s a whole bunch of options in a picture. I’ll just decide based on how I feel though What If It’s Us is the one I want to read most and will probably be one I definitely read this month.
That it everything on my August TBR! There is 12 books altogether though hopefully I can read more then that. Twelve is a big ask since I’m feeling slumpy about reading. But I like to dream big with these things. What books are on your August TBR?
until next time!
