I had a very “bad” reading month in terms of numbers this month.Β  I only read 5 books, which isn’t much for me. But I don’t like to say it was “bad” because I didn’t have time and I didn’t feel like it and I read a long book and wanted to just take my time to enjoy it so I don’t feel bad about five even though it’s a lot less than usual. Also, I read some books I really loved this month so that was cool too! Lets talk about what I read

🌈 = books with lgbt+ representation
🌞 = representation of people of colour
β™ΏΒ =Β  disability rep
🌸    = mental illness rep
βœ”Β = was on my monthly tbr

1: Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor (πŸŒžπŸŒˆβœ” )

I read this for TomeTopple! It took ages but that was okay, it’s one of those books you have to read slow. I enjoyed this quite a bit but didn’t LOVE it like some people do. But I will definitely read the sequel! I loved the world a lot, Laini Taylor creates such beautiful fantasy and the most interesting characters.Β β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†

2: The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan (🌞🌸 )

I finished reading this series, for the first time! It was interesting to read this series since it’s so many peoples favourites. This was a fairly solid conclusion with good character work but I don’t think I’ve really fell in love with the series. I do love the characters though, and I will read his other books eventually.Β β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

3: The Seven Husbands of Evelyn HugoΒ  by Taylor Jenkins Reid (πŸŒˆπŸŒžπŸŒΈβœ”Β )

I loved this book so, so so so so much. It was amazing and beautiful and moving and compelling and I couldn’t stop listening to it. I cried so much at the end and I’m now trying to get everyone I know to read it. I would die for any of these Hollywood legends.Β  Β β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…

Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson

4: Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson (🌈🌞)

I found out my library had this on audiobook so I wanted to borrow it because Emma from EmmasBooks had been hyping it up. I actually had a lot of fun with this, and enjoyed the true crime element. I loved that you were told the case as the present day events unfolded. Pretty keen for the sequel.Β β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†

5: Running with Lions by Julian Winters (πŸŒˆπŸŒžβœ”)

I was so excited to read this! It was one of my most anticipated 2018 releases and I really enjoyed it. It was so sweet and cute and a really fun fluffy romance. I loved the sports team element. I just reviewed this one on my blog yesterday!Β β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†

And there we have it! July is over and even though I didn’t read a lot I read five books I really enjoyed so I don’t mind at all. This was a super great month, I went to Melbourne and that was amazing! And so much fun! And now uni has gone back which is a bit sad but kinda cool too because I like having something to do. So I hope August is just as good

until next time!

  1. I’m glad you loved The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo!! And I completely relate to how you feel about PJO. I keep picking up Rick Riordan’s books because everyone loves his work, but I haven’t fallen in love with any of his books yet 😦 The characters are great though!

  2. Well done for the books you did read! I completely understand how you feel though – I only managed to read 6 books this month (2 of which were super short novellas) which is quite a bit less than usual, but I also had lots going on so didn’t have as much time for reading as usual. At least the ones you did read you enjoyed though! Sometimes quality is better than quantity πŸ˜‰

  3. I’m so happy you enjoyed Evelyn Hugo so much- I really need to get my hands on that one at some point πŸ™‚ I also really want to read Running with Lions, it sounds like such a great book πŸ™‚
    I hope you’ll have a wonderful August! πŸ™‚

  4. You read some great books this month! I’m so glad you loved Evelyn Hugo, that’s one of my all time faves. I still need to finish the PJO series and Strange the Dreamer, and Truly Devious and Running with Lions are both on my TBR (RWL is actually sitting at the post office right now, waiting on me!!).

  5. It’s better than my July wrap up. I read no books in the month of July. I’ve been in a reading slump and it’s kinda bad. But I’m planning on reading today hopefully. I’m glad you enjoyed Strange the Dreamer. I rated it 4 stars as well because it was just a bit too slow! But I’m planning on rereading it soon in anticipation for the sequel!
