I’m in government-mandated isolation because of covid-19 – so here are the books I want to read

Hi all!  This is my first post in a while, so a big hello for real. As some people may know, I took a blogging break to prepare for a six week holiday I was going on in Europe. This six week holiday ended up being a 12 day one because of coronavirus and then when I landed back in Australia – I was immediately placed in government-mandated isolation. SO, this all leads me here. 14 days to try and read A LOT OF BOOKS

I do plan on just enjoying this time and picking up what I feel like, but with that said there ARE some books on the forefront of my mind I would like to get to, so this ‘tbr’ will be those books.  let’s jump into it!

books I’m currently reading

First, I’m reading four books right now so I want to try to finish some of my current reads.

SPQR: A History of Ancient Rome by Mary Beard – 12% read: This book is a pretty chunky non-fiction about Ancient Rome (duh) but it is so interesting! I literally just went to Rome and should really still be in Italy right now if my original plan had panned out so … oop. I need to live vicariously through this book

Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare – 27% read: I started rereading this in preparation to read Chain of Gold. I have actually never reread this book since the first time I read it, on the day it came out because it destroyed me so much. I’m excited to reread it now though!

Girl, Woman, Other by Bernadine Evaristo – 47% read: I’ve been reading this slowly for a while now but it’s a bit of a mood read pick-up for me. This follows a series of loosely connected women and it is so well written! I just do struggle with short stories, though I am enjoying this one more than I enjoy lots of collections.

Maybe in Another Life by Taylor Jenkins Reid – 11% read: I’m .. on the fence about this one. I started the audiobook and thought it was kind of boring but I decided to give it another 10% before I decide to potentially DNF

break

other books I want to read

Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare:  I wasn’t really as excited for this release as I have been for previous Clare books, but it had such good reviews I did want to give it a shot.

The Fate of the Tearling by Erika Johansen:  This is the last book in the Queen of the Tearling series and I cannot wait to read it and finish up this series!

The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern:  This is one of those books I’ve been waiting for the perfect time to read. The time where I could sit back and just enjoy this. And to be honest, there will probably be no better time.

That is all for my TBR list. I kept it quite short since I am just kinda taking this time to kick back and relax if I’m stuck here. If you’re also quarantined like me, or just self-isolating, let me know what you’re reading.

until next time!

  2. My uni is closed due to covid-19 and I want to spend my time rereading TID but I think I left Clockwork Angel at my dorm -_- So I guess I’m just gonna tackle whatever books I have at home!

Yess I hope you love The Starless Sea! It’s one of my favorites. I didn’t love Maybe In Another Life as much as I had enjoyed TJR’s other books, unfortunately, but it was still a decent read! Enjoy your reading !

Cancelled holiday plans suck…and so does government self-isolation…but thank goodness there’s books. Happy reading!
